ON EFT WITH EFT TRAINER GÜLAY GECÜ – ÖNCEVATAN

EFT therapy was first introduced in the 1990s by Gary Craig, who saw his approach as an effective combination of mind-body medicine and acupressure techniques. This method is a continuation of thought field therapy (TFT) developed by clinical psychologist Dr Roger Callahan in the 1980s.

We met with GÜLAY GECÜ, International Trainer and Practitioner of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). We talked about what EFT is, for what purpose it is used and its positive effects, and asked her all we wondered…

 

Welcome Mrs Gülay, how are you? First of all, we would like to get to know you.

Welcome, hello. Of course. I am Gülay Gecü, an International Trainer and Practitioner of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). I am a facilitator of Family Sequencing with EFT Technique. I am a mother of 4 children. I am the founder of Journey Academy Consultancy Company based in London, England. I am the Turkish EFT Trainer who has trained the most EFT Experts in Europe and the world.

How was Bir Tık Wisdom Brand born?

Bir Tık Wisdom brand was born in the 6th year of Gülay’s 7-year EFT Journey. Thousands of people from all over the world and Turkey who have attended EFT sessions, trainings and workshops, the expression of peace and smile on their faces after each work and the positive change in their lives afterwards, led us to live ‘wisely’ without realising it. A ‘wise’ stance means knowing that you are in pain, but without complaining, gaining the ability to cope with that pain with an adult consciousness. The miraculous touches of tapping have led each of us to become ‘explorers of ourselves’. We thought that this orientation should be shared with everyone and more people should be able to share this achievement and we established our Bir Tık Wisdom brand.

What is EFT? Can you explain it to us, considering that we have never heard of it?

EFT, which is the Emotional Freedom Technique in Turkish, by discovering the emotional causes and subconscious beliefs behind the problems we experience; It is an energy psychology technique that activates the energy flow with our touches on acupuncture points, transforms subconscious beliefs, and provides physical and emotional healing. In our body, there are meridian channels that we cannot see with our eyes, but which were discovered by the Chinese 5000 years ago and through which the energy flow passes and each of which is connected to our organs. When we experience a negative event and we cannot express, recognise and manage the negative emotions we feel in the face of these events, these emotions cause blockages in our energy body. By activating these channels during Tapping, i.e. EFT tapping, we activate the energy flow and thus help both the healing of the physical body and the emergence of a state of well-being with the energy flow.

What does EFT training cover? Who can receive EFT training?

EFT training is an internationally certified training where we explain the details of the technique with sample applications to those who want to apply the EFT technique professionally, and offer it as a practical tool that can always be used in the toolbox of mental health professionals. In EFT speciality training, it is prepared for anyone who wants to apply EFT professionally, which is a technique that we can easily and easily use in all areas of our lives such as traumas, emotional reasons behind diseases, stress management, phobias, birth story, relationship with money, weight, addictions. Anyone who wants to use EFT professionally in their lives can participate in these trainings, which can be attended online from all over Turkey and the world.

What are the positive effects of EFT on our lives?

The EFT technique is a marvellous technique, an invention of the last century, which provides physical and spiritual healing when applied appropriately and correctly. Since we do not work on a subject we have worked with EFT again, the stress conversations in the mind end. We burn inner peace. As we use EFT to heal our traumas or diseases, we can improve our quality of life, stay in the moment, act calmly and with an adult consciousness in the face of the problems we experience, with affirmations we can do daily. People who control their emotions can take their whole life under their control.

Where and for what purpose is EFT used? For example, we want to lose weight but we can’t lose weight. What can be done about this? Do you help in this regard?

We use EFT to transform the negative emotions and belief patterns behind every problem we face in daily life and to remove the obstacles to healing. When you support diet applications that have been done many times on weight loss with the EFT technique, you will not gain back the weight you have lost. Because weight is a solution programme that the subconscious mind offers us to keep us alive. In fact, weight is not a problem. Yes, you heard that right; weight is not a problem. When you look at weight as a defence mechanism, then we ask the following question; What kind of a problem are we experiencing and unable to solve, so that the subconscious mind reveals weight to provide a solution for us? As we find and discover the subconscious beliefs behind the weight and transform them into positives, it becomes easier to have a healthy physical body. Instead of the solution offered by the subconscious mind, when we realise these problems, face those negative emotions and resolve them, we start to lose weight as the stress in the energy body is resolved. And the lost weight does not come back. We do not work on the subjects we work with the EFT Technique over and over again. And every negative story we work with becomes an ordinary story for us. To explain a little more; You have emotional eating disorder, which we define as emotional hunger, which is one of the most important reasons behind weight. In other words, if you turn to foods such as spoonfuls of chocolate, chips, pastries, seeds when you are angry, lonely or stressed, if you find yourself at the fridge as soon as you get up from the table, with the EFT technique, we find the emotions that create a gap in you, cut the connection between food and emotion, and establish an emotional connection with ourselves. We do this through the affirmation sentences that I give to the client as an application after the EFT work. You can consider the same work for smoking addiction and all other addictions. Because weight is also a kind of addiction.

What are the effects of EFT on relationships? For example, if we have been cheated in our relationship before and we cannot get over it, can we get help from EFT?

If we are having problems in a relationship, we identify where the problem comes from. If the problem is a reflection of our parents’ relationships, that is, if we take their relationships as an example for ourselves in our relationships, then the place to look is the version of the child who is stuck in the relationship of his parents and our childhood traumas. By breaking the hypnosis of the relationship model that that child sees in his parents, we help him to establish a relationship with an adult consciousness. Or the young child who is wounded by the love he did not receive from one of his parents, chooses a partner to complete the love of that parent with his consciousness. The EFT technique helps him to realise this choice and helps him to reach the level of consciousness he needs for the right partner choice.

But is it possible to stay in positive emotions all the time? Isn’t this toxic positivity?

Emotional liberation technique does not mean that we should always live life positively, never get angry, anxious, sad or cry. We say that we are allowed to get angry, anxious, sad, and cry, but in moderation. If we cry when we should laugh, if our anxiety level is high and prevents us from daily life skills instead of a stress that will mobilise us, if we disturb those around us as if ours is not enough, this is where emotion control comes into play and the EFT technique balances our emotional world with miraculous touches and enables us to give the reaction that needs to be given in place. We are allowed to experience and feel every emotion. As long as we are not a prisoner of our emotions.

Man is a traveller trying to find his direction in this journey of life. And the greatest journey is the journey to oneself. In other words, in the journey of finding oneself, man searches and searches. And when he discovers his heart, then he connects with himself, with life and with the universe. In the journey of finding oneself, getting rid of the hypnosis of the past makes our work easier and we begin to hear our inner voice and feel the world with our six senses by distinguishing our emotions, passing from hypnosis to an awakening.
