What is Surrogate EFT Session?

Surrogate EFT is a safe and structured application of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) used to work with emotional, behavioral, and adjustment-related challenges observed particularly in children aged 0–12. In this type of session, the child does not have to participate directly; instead, the focus is placed on the child’s emotional world and energy field through the mother or father. The goal is to safely address emotional burdens that the child may not be able to express or of which they are unaware.

The Surrogate EFTapproach respects the developmental boundaries of the child. Especially in cases where young children struggle to express their feelings verbally, this parent-mediated work provides an indirect yet effective contact with the child’s system.

How is a Surrogate EFT Session Conducted?

Surrogate EFT sessions are carried out with the explicit consent and active participation of the mother or father. During the session, the parent performs the EFT tapping points on behalf of the child, guided by the EFT practitioner. Throughout this process, the emotional difficulties the child experiences, their behavioral reactions, and the symptoms arising in daily life are taken into account.

During the work, what might be happening in the child’s emotional world and the counterparts of these emotions in the energy body are addressed. The session proceeds without labeling or forcing the child; the goal is not merely to “fix a problem” but to support the restoration of the child’s internal balance. The parent also becomes aware of their own emotional reactions, which is a crucial element that deepens the effect of the work.

Duration and Details of Surrogate EFT Sessions

A Surrogate EFT session lasts an average of 1 to 1.5 hours. The duration is evaluated flexibly based on the child’s needs, the subject matter, and the flow of the session. Sessions are conducted in a professional, non-judgmental, and safe environment.

These sessions are not treated as superficial applications promising quick fixes; rather, they are handled as a holistic process aimed at understanding the child’s emotional world, supporting the parent-child bond, and strengthening long-term emotional balance.

Who is Surrogate EFT Suitable For?

Surrogate EFT sessions can be preferred as a supportive method for:

  • Children who have difficulty expressing their emotions.

  • Those showing intense fear, anxiety, or anger responses.

  • Children struggling with school, separation, or adjustment processes.

  • Situations where an emotional burden is felt within the parent-child relationship.

Each session is planned by taking the unique needs of the child and the family into consideration.
